Driving by a building like this out in the middle of nowhere equals a near-guaranteed stop for me. From the plaque out front:
This country cemetery had its beginning as a family cemetery when Robert Yates, an early pioneer, acquired land in this territory which later became Crawford County, Indiana. Although the first burial of a Yates family member was unrecorded during those pioneering days, the year 1816 has been deemed the founding year of the Yates Family Cemetery. In 1889, the descendants of the Yates and other families founded the non-denominational Union Chapel Church on the Cemetery property. In this quiet, rural setting, many families have since laid their family members to rest in this Union Chapel Yates Cemetery.
